John English
The Flat Top Crew congratulates John English on his overwhelming victory in the Queensland State Election, on Saturday, 17th February 2001.
John English was the Australian Labor Party's endorsed candidate for the seat of Redlands, which is a bayside electorate, to the east of Brisbane and includes some of the islands of Moreton Bay.
John easily defeated the sitting National Party member, getting 48.55% of the primary vote.

The Premier of Queensland, Peter Beattie, when announcing John's endorsement as Labor candidate for Redlands, made the following statement, "John, is a 38 year old sergeant in the Ethical Standards Command of the Queensland Police Service who is ideally placed to serve the people of Redlands."
